Why do people crave sweets like chocolate?

Is it cos we are addicted to sugar like to a drug or Is there some sort of biological reason behind it?
I just had my long craved for chocolate bar.:P and wondered why do some people (like me) can’t stay away from sweets no longer than two weeks while my friends don’t like/eat sweets at all.
